Recipes for Dog Meals – Puppy Pick-me-up and Cool Kebab
Posted by: | CommentsIs your dog tired of having to eat the same food every day? You could try buying an alternative brand or a different flavor, but instead of looking along the supermarket shelves why not make something yourself? There’s nothing like home-cooked food: you know exactly where the ingredients have come from and how the food has been prepared. More importantly, your dog will love having the chance to try something new.
Puppy pick-me-up
Serves 1
- Preparation time 5 minutes
- 1 wheat breakfast biscuit, crumbled
- 2 tablespoons bran strands
- 1 tablespoon bran flakes, crumbled
- 4 tablespoons low-fat natural yogurt
- 1 tablespoon liquid honey thin slices of fruit, such as apple, banana, strawberries or mango, to decorate
This is the perfect way for young dogs to start the day, or you could serve it to older dogs as a special treat. Add a few slices of your dog’s favorite fresh fruit, whatever is in season.
1. Mix together all of the ingredients and transfer them to a serving dish.
2. Decorate the mixture with slices of fruit and serve immediately.
Cool kebab
Serves 4
Preparation time 10 minutes
Cooking time 15 minutes
11 oz (325 g) kidneys, quartered
6 cherry tomatoes, halved
8 button mushrooms
Kidneys can be rather rich, so do not serve this all at the same meal. Slide the cooked meat and vegetables from the skewer into a dish to serve. Cover and store in the refrigerator for a day or two.
1. Arrange the kidneys and vegetables on one or more long skewer; those with a wooden handle will be easier to turn.
2. Cook the kebab under a preheated hot grill, turning frequently, until it is cooked through (the juices should run clear).
3. Allow to cool and store in the refrigerator until required.
